I've been thinking about my characters' weapons lately, and suddenly came up with the idea of making a topic that elaborately discusses the weapons any OC uses...The question mark is there because I'm not sure if this is a good idea or not.
Nanashi's weapons
(Changed the names, and thought of some background info)
A. Muramasa: named after a legendary Japanese swordsmith whose blades were said to be 'evil'. Legend had it that if a Muramasa blade was unsheathed it would have to draw blood before it could be sheathed again. If this was not the case, the one using it would have to commit ritual suicide (Seppuku) so that blood would be drawn after all. This is the blade that was given to Nanashi by Encron, after Encron received it from the Elder Wyrm. This blade is vile and thirsts for blood, and as such it represents Nanashi's vampiric side.
B. Masamune: another legendary swordsmith who is often contrasted with Muramasa. The legend believed that Masamune was in fact Muramasa's mentor, although this would be historically impossible as they lived in a different period of time. This sword was also given to Encron by the Elder Wyrm. He first gave it to the captain of the Royal Guard for safekeeping, and as a gift for having protected the Queen. This captain was however killed by an assassin who later on appeared to be Aldarion. Aldarion used this blade until he was ironically slain by Nanashi, who now possesses this weapon but only uses it when there are too many opponents to handle with just one weapon. This blade is said to be used by a calm and noble warrior, which represents Nanashi as an Aussenseiter.
C. Murasame: The combined form of Nanashi's blades, the name has many different meanings. In Japanese it is often described as "autumn rain", which falls hard and then gently, in fits and starts. It is also known as a fictional katana that could summon rain. This weapon is only used by Nanashi's demonic side, as it perfectly fits his behaviour. Just like the rain, he can go from calm to violent in a short time. The weapon is however massive, and most of the time two hands are required to properly use it in battle. It is swung around in order to use both of the blades, often making it possible to kill more than one opponent in a single swing.
Purple Thorn
This is a handgun capable of rapid fire, to be used by Audrey when she is in danger. Nanashi requested she received her own weapon because she was so frequently being targeted by the vampires, thinking of her as someone they could easily kidnap and force into spilling valuable information about their enemies. Audrey then received this low-recoil handgun whose barrel is decorated with a purple (Audrey's favourite colour) rose with large torns sticking out of the side. Much like Ryu's weapons, the user mustn't mind ammunition: there are no actual bullets. Depending on the energy source (in Audrey's case, the weapon supplies its own energy) the bullets take form when the weapon is fired.
Ferreus Dentis
"Cruel Tooth" literally translated to Latin. This is Encron's scythe, which is probably considered to be as mysterious as he is. The weapon was the first of three weapons given to Encron by the Elder Wyrm, and the only one that he kept to himself. Old dragons frequently grow new front teeth, after losing the old ones while hunting or in battle. After a while, if the old teeth aren't lost, they are pushed out of place by the new teeth. It is said that the blade of Encron's scythe is actually a sharpened tooth of the Elder Wyrm itself. Despite scythes mainly being used to harvest crops Encron manages to use it as a surprisingly versatile weapon thanks to the wide, curved edge.
