@Sara
you know that i don't watch the news that often. i actually only watch it in the morning before school but since school's ended i don't watch it that much.

@Seth
wow i can't believe that would happen. I mean i can see why though cause they don't want those religions to spread and stuff.

@ Enc

yeah i guess the Scientologists would think America to be a paradise.

I just found it amusing (or alarming) that a guy who will fully immerse himself in Wicca, of all things, warns people to stay away from scientology. As for the weirdos themselves, well, that's their problem that they only cater to the rich and brainless. Keeps the rest of the religion-spreading people (including myself) from having to deal with yet another confusing religion.

That was the funny part about taking contemporary religions. My teach wanted me to delve in and investigate the grey areas of the religions we were studying. I told her I have a hard enough time understanding the grey areas of my own faith.

With these 'grey' areas, are you referring to somewhere in between good and bad?

More like the areas the Bible doesn't tell you about extensively.

For example, some people won't drink, while Jesus turned water into wine. Nothing about not drinking, but it does warn about getting drunk. Where do you draw the line?

Or how hard-core Baptists don't believe in dancing, but the Bible tells us that King David, a godly man, danced in the street in joy of his God.

Cussing is never brought up in the Bible, but it says we are to be in the world, not of it. Once again, where do you draw the line?

Ah, well, that's kindof what I meant. Drawing such a line is never an easy thing.

Oh. Oops. Embarassed

Either way, that's what I mean. I don't understand it very well with my own faith, and she wanted me to explain it with someone else's. I laughed at her. ^^ It might explain why I got a B in that class.

Heh. Reminds me of an old teacher I used to have; for a class where religion was the main subject (lifestyles being the other.) At the end of the year we were to present a certain project we'd been working on; the class liked it, the teacher complimented us, yet I recieve 60/100? She wasn't ashamed to let me know that she took a dislike towards me being Gothic.

I'd be so pissed if that would've happened to be me. i mean just cause your Gothic shouldn't matter to the teache. It should be how well you presented yourself not the way you dress.

Well, it wasn't just the way I dressed. The fact that I was able to defend my (religious) statements, no matter how hard she tried to break them down, pissed her off big time. She contradicted herself in many ways; stating that everyone has the right to believe what they want to believe, yet she kept trying to convince me that my view on the Catholic church was wrong.

Catholics are the one faith I will never understand (that and atheists, but that's a whole different ball game). How exactly does one claim to be a Christian religion and yet most of its followers have never read the Bible? Even if you don't read it on your own, every person who goes to a Protestant church can say they have read the Bible. If they haven't, they're going out of their way not to.

yeah i know what you mean. It's really tough to figure out what the Catholics believe in and i mean why in the world are they called Catholics in the first place, shouldn't they just be Christians cause they both study God in the same aspect so why should they have different names?
Personally for me i don't have a religion at all and whenever someone tries to tell me to join their church or whatever i usually just tell them that i don't go to church anymore since my pap died.

i choose not to call it religion. It's my faith, what I believe. That and I try to ignore people in the church except for the pastor. Far too many people base their opinions on a faith on what people have done to the religion. It's not right.
